The Center for Immigration Studies annual border tour traveled to the Rio Grande Valley. At the southernmost tip of Texas, the Valley is a 4,872 square mile semi-tropical flood plain on the northern bank of the Rio Grande, flanked by the Gulf of Mexico to the east and Mexico to the south and west. The Border Patrol's Rio Grande Valley Sector is the epicenter of illegal alien and drug crossings on the Mexican border, accounting for close to half of all arrests. Members of the tour met with area residents, experts, and law enforcement representatives. Below is a series of short videos with Mark Krikorian, the Center's Executive Director, discussing his experience with those interactions.
