Nayla Rush is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Immigration Studies, focusing on refugee and asylum policy. She holds a Ph.D. in Migration Studies from the University of Sussex in the UK, a Maitrise in Sociology from Sorbonne University in Paris, and a B.A. in Sociology from the American University of Beirut.
Dr.. Rush is an expert in global issues related to international migration, analyzing migration's impact on the social, cultural, and economic dynamics of societies. Her main regional interests are in the United States, Europe, and the Mediterranean but she also looks beyond geographical and historical specificities for general lessons and perspectives. She is author of Sri Lankan Housemaids in Lebanon: A Case of "Symbolic Violence" and "Everyday Forms of Resistance".
A native of Lebanon, Dr. Rush recently became a U.S. citizen. She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
