Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, and Steven Camarota, Research Director discussed the CIS report "Immigrants in the United States - 2002: A Snapshot of America's Foreign-Born Population." Characteristics of the immigrant population was the focus, which was estimated to be approximately 33 million legal and illegal immigrants. Panelist Robert Suro, Director for the Pew Hispanic Center, and Michael Lind of the New America Foundation addressed issues of poverty, use of the welfare system, business ownership, and health insurance coverage.
