As the Director of Litigation for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), I hereby submit this comment on behalf of Ralph Pope, John Ladd, Peggy Davis, Fred Davis, Gail Getzwiller, Kevin Lynn, Massachusetts Coalition for Immigration Reform (MCIR), and Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in response to the departments’ request for comments on the Joint Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (JNPRM) titled Procedures for Credible Fear Screening and Consideration of Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and CAT Protections by Asylum Officers, as published in the Federal Register on August 20, 2021.
