The summer months in Mexico have witnessed large increases and improvements of border security, interior enforcement, and deportations of migrants. So far, Mexico has experienced a large increase in deportations of Central American migrants in 2019.

According to a spokesman for the Guatemalan Migration Institute, the latest numbers for 2019 indicate that roughly 102,314 Central American migrants from the countries of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua have been deported from Mexico to Guatemala — a 63 percent increase compared to January through August 2018, when Mexico deported approximately 62,746 migrants.

The table below has the breakdown of deportations by country of origin in 2019.
